🪙Asset standards

imagiNation supports assets that are unlike regular NFTs (non-fungible tokens). A key standard unique to CKB is DOBs (digital objects), also known as Spores.

DOBs are non-fungible assets that store much of their data, if not all of it, on the blockchain. This enables assets that have much higher security guarantees and protection from lost data than regular NFTs. Assets minted on CKB are known as "first class assets" - only the owner has control over them, and many exploits that can cause loss of regular NFTs are nullified. This illustrates how DOBs reflect true ownership of assets.

In addition to this, DOBs are a true store of value. Due to CKB's tokenomic design, every byte of on-chain data requires 1 CKB to be locked away. A DOB that is 100kb in size will need 100,000 CKB to be locked in its respective cell. If the DOB is destroyed (or "melted"), that 100,000 CKB is released back to the owner. This means that DOBs will always have an intrinsic floor price due to their value capture - they cannot go to 0. The closest analogy to this is the use of gold to create jewelry. This jewelry will always have some value due to the base element it is made of; this jewelry could always be melted and the gold reused.
